They do not all provide the same nutrients
Leafy greens, cucumber, cauliflower and zucchini work in many recipes with few carbohydrates per serving. Starchy root vegetables, corn and plantain provide more starch. Both groups need defined portions; they are not gram-for-gram substitutes.
Our shakes use small amounts of berries for flavor. Filling a glass with several fruits, juice and honey makes a different preparation from the calculated recipe.
Buy food you will actually cook
Frozen foods without sauces or added sugar can save time and reduce waste. Juice and whole fruit are not equivalent in texture and fiber; check additions. Wash produce before cutting.
- Weigh fruit when comparing shakes.
